Mary's Philosophy

Mary’s philosophy is very simple: People have the strength and power within to create peace, joy and happiness for themselves and others. Change, growth and transformation are normal functions of our time on earth. It is essential to share our gifts with the world and to let our own lights shine.

The following writings make clear her philosophy.

Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
The bliss of growth; The glory of action; The splendor of achievement;
For yesterday is but a dream; And tomorrow is only a vision;
But today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!

- Kalidasa

If there is to be peace in the world, there must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations, there must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities, there must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors, there must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace in the heart.

- Lao-Tse

The Final Analysis

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone may destroy overnight; Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is all between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.

- Mother Teresa of Calcutta

St. Francis’ Prayer (Adapted)

I am a channel of peace
Where there is hatred, I bring love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith

I am a channel of peace,
Where there is despair in life, I bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
Where there is sadness, ever joy

I grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul

I am a channel of peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving of ourselves that we receive
In dying that we’re born to eternal life

Reiki Ideals

Just for today, I let go of anger
Just for today, I let go of worry
Just for today, I let go of judgment
Just for today, I give thanks for my many blessings
Just for today, I am honest
Just for today, I am kind to my neighbor and every living thing.
